A Conversation That Needs To Happen

There are many topics that most of us avoid talking about -- sex, religion, money, and politics are often at the top of the list. Perhaps we simply find them taboo or too personal, or maybe we know they will ignite heated debates. The circumcision of boys is one of these avoided topics. Until recently, it was only talked about in hushed whispers. A veil of secrecy made myths and rumors extremely prevalent. Because of this, people are not usually fully informed about the details of the procedure, nor the risks and complications that it can cause.

Research Circumcision

"I can never take back what I subjected my son to by allowing him to [be] altered. But hopefully by sharing this I can encourage other parents to be more informed than I was, and to not fall for the Plastibell lie."

This is a conversation that needs to happen. When parents are provided with truthful, factual information on the harms of infant circumcision and the benefits of leaving the child's body whole and intact, it becomes clear that the circumcision decision should be left to the person to whom the penis is attached, not his parents.

This website, and our Cincinnati Tri-State Intactivists Facebook Page, are resources intended primarily for residents of the Greater Cincinnati Tri-State Metro Area of Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana, but we also welcome anyone outside our area who is interested in learning more about this topic.

"I want people to be completely educated about the wide-ranging impact, both physical and physiological, as well as the psychological ramifications, of what this procedure is doing to men."

Help Build This Resource

This brand new website is just getting started. And while there is already a list of features being developed to eventually post here, your suggestions for content are welcome. One idea is to host a "Local Voices" blog section, where local residents can share their own personal circumcision story. If you have a suggestion or would like to contribute, just message the Cincinnati Tri-State Intactivists Facebook Page.
